I began writing at age 10, trying my hand at what I later learned was fan fiction, after reading The Hobbit. I fancied myself as the new Tolkien, or at least Enid Blyton. Yet, despite spending a career with the written word, success eluded me until I founded The Hysterectomy Association in the mid 1990’s, when writing became the means of supporting my nascent non-profit, growing it beyond all expectations until it closed in 2019.
It sometimes feels as if I have a lifetime of experience across every aspect of the writing industry, as a result I know how difficult it is to find out if your work is ‘good enough’ to present to an audience; I understand the challenges of getting to the all-important publishing contract; and I could write (and did for a long time) reams about the adventure of getting your work into the hands of a paying audience.
Today, I work with a few writers, either through my monthly workshops, occasional retreats and one-to-one mentoring and coaching. I help writers and authors hone and perfect the story they want to share, whether thats in a novel or short story. I also work with anyone wanting to enter the brave new world of self publishing, either by teaching and coaching them to do it for themselves, or by doing much of the technical and practical work for them.

Professional Self-Publishing can take one of two routes. Either, I will guide you through the entire process beginning with your manuscript and ending up at submission to online print on demand services; or I can do some of the job for you. For instance, you may simply want some help with formatting your work for paperback or eBook, or you might be happy doing that yourself and just need help to get the practicalities in place.
