On My Road To Recovery After My Hysterectomy – Chris’s Story

Hi, I have just had my Vaginal Hysterectomy about two and a half weeks ago and I’m not feeling too bad now. At the time I didn’t know what to expect due to not reading the booklets & feeling sick looking at them.

I found the after experience a worry with a lot of pains in my stomach & feeling tired. The thought of stretching & overdoing things, being on my own looking after 5 children, two of them teenagers not doing a lot & no family, just a kind friend who has been a help

I’ve done pretty well though and I did invest in a hand grabber which has helped a great deal in getting things I would not be able to. I also got a bath seat & a mobility scooter to get around. I find now I am mobile enough to get around on my own without feeling tired and it’s a blessing in disguise and hope my story is of help to you kind regards x

  1. Hi, I also had a Vaginal Hysterectomy on the 4th of February 2013. I must mention that I thought I would have more pain than what I have experienced. With two young kids age 6 and 8 it was quite a challenge to my organisational skills. Unlike you I have a lot of help from my parents who assisted with the driving to and from school. My husband is working in Tanzania and we had to decide between him being here to help me and being home Christmas 2013. It was quite a hard decision but absolutely no regrets.

There is a lot of info on the operation but all depends on each individual. Your family, kids, career, marriage circumstances influences your emotional feelings post op. Although I have perfect circumstances the fact that my husband is far away did affect me more than I am willing to admit. The most frustrating thing at 4 weeks post op are reaching the floor and my feet!

Well I wil see how it will affect our intimacy when hubby is home in couple of weeks. A lot is said about the topic but it remains to be seen.

Good luck to you! Happy recovery
