Chesil Bank Writing Shed
We meet monthly in Portesham, West Dorset. Established and new writers are welcome. If you’ve never written anything before but would like to start, this is the place to practice, learn and develop your own writing style and voice.
We meet at Portesham Village Hall on the second Thursday of each month for feedback on our writing, writing prompt challenges, and group competitions, and to learn more about how to get our writing into the hands of a bigger audience.
Each weekly session features a writing prompt to get our writing juices flowing, sharing our work for group feedback, and a knowledge and learning session on the business of being a writer. As the group develops guest speakers might join us for one-off workshops.
We’ll talk about topics such as how to market your work, writing for the web, being a writer on social media, and getting your work published.
The writing group is hosted by Linda Parkinson-Hardman, writer, author, and founder of the Writing Shed and the International Hysteria Writing Competition. You can find out more about Linda and check out her work on Substack where she shares a weekly writing prompt with her mailing list every Friday morning.
Tea, coffee, biscuits (and the occasional cake) during the break.
Cost: £5 per person.
